Students learn effective methods for character recognition to improve reading efficiency. Instruction integrates characters, words, and sentences in context — understanding and applying meanings within phrases, sentences, and paragraphs, while distinguishing between similar-looking characters, homophones, and polyphonic characters.

The program further enhances students’ Chinese comprehension and expression skills, continuing to strengthen speaking practice. Students learn to express themselves clearly, completely, and fluently.

Through intensive reading and oral reading practice, students standardize spoken language and develop written expression. At the same time, extensive reading is introduced to broaden vocabulary and knowledge, foster interest in learning, and build the foundation for writing. Students begin to write short paragraphs, notes, diaries, and letters.

They also learn how to use a Chinese dictionary, are encouraged to study new characters independently, and receive training in typing using Pinyin input.
